Scholarships
What do I need to do to apply for a Scholarship?
You need to do your research! Looking for a scholarship is like going on a treasure hunt. You are not going to find free money lying around. You have to look for it!
TIPS:
Each scholarship will list "Eligibility Requirements. " Read these and you will know right off the bat if you qualify. Check dates for "Deadline for submission. " You cannot submit a scholarship application late - period! - Check out local scholarships (Alameda/Bay Area) and Encinal only scholarships. Your chances of getting these are much better than national ones!
Most scholarships will require at least one letter of recommendation. Complete a Brag Sheet(you can find this in College and Career Center link). Download it and type up your answers. You can send an electronic copy to a teacher or counselor. Be sure to save it so you can update and reuse it. Most teachers will ask you for your brag sheet, a transcript, and at least two weeks noticeto write a letter of recommendation. Most scholarship applications are online, but some still have a paper application. We keep copies of any paper applications in the scholarship binder in the C&C Center.
